DONOVAN WALTJER

How long have you been working in adventure games?

I have been running games for others almost constantly since 2014, but I haven’t begun offering my services “professionally” until now in 2022.

How would you describe your style?

“I pride myself on my ability to create a TTRPG game specially catered to what my players want, whether that be a grand character-centric, story-driven campaign full of roleplay, or a strategic dungeon crawl that focuses on the combat side of a TTRPG system. I enjoy crafting characters and NPCS, designing worlds, and creating fun, engaging, and challenging encounters for my players to overcome.

I love all aspects of both planning and running a tabletop roleplay game, so I can run any type of campaign with the experience and passion one would expect from a professional game master.

Last but not least, I work with all of my players to make sure that everyone is comfortable and that no one’s lines are ever crossed. Tabletop roleplaying games can be a great place to depict and address challenging topics in a safe environment, but only if everyone at the table is in agreement that they are comfortable encountering them. I want my table to be a safe space for everyone involved.”

What makes you unique as a performer?

“I have an extensive list of TTRPG systems with which I can run games, and I am confident that I can learn to run any other system my players might want me to game master.

I can hand-craft a campaign specifically for the players who decide to sit down at my table, or I can run one of the many pre-written adventures from both official sources or adventures of my own creation that I have run successfully in the past.

I have plenty of experience working with both brand new and veteran players, sometimes even in the same group together. I have experience teaching both children and adults, and as a veteran of many TTRPG systems I can create stories, encounters, and challenges that can both teach new players the ropes and offer veteran players a chance to use what they’ve learned from their previous experience with a system.

I can offer a flexible schedule that fits groups with limited availability or those in different time zones.”

What else should people know about you?

What tabletop game systems can you run?

“In order of most to least experience:
Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Stars Without Number, Mutants & Masterminds, LANCER, Deadlands: The Weird West, Cyberpunk, Legend of the Five Rings”

What apps or software do you use to run your games?

I use Roll20 to run games and use Discord for voice chat and to communicate, schedule, and share resources with players.
