The Collapse Changed Everything
The world you knew is gone. The Collapse swept through without warning—communications failed, infrastructure crumbled, and the old systems fell apart. Now, in what remains of Cambridge, five guilds have risen from the ruins. Each one has a different vision for what comes next. Each one needs people with sharp minds and sharper instincts.
Welcome to Sector 47.
This isn’t about fighting monsters. It’s about what happens after the world breaks—and whether your team has the STEM skills, strategic thinking, and grit to rebuild it. The Collapse is the backdrop. The real challenge is survival, problem-solving, and deciding what kind of world rises from the ashes.
The Five Guilds
When participants enter Sector 47, they join one of five guilds—each with its own philosophy, strengths, and approach to rebuilding:
The Foundry — Engineers and builders who believe civilization starts with infrastructure. They scavenge, repair, and construct.
The Archive — Scholars and scientists who preserve knowledge and believe understanding the Collapse is the key to preventing the next one.
The Wardens — Protectors and medics who prioritize safety, defense, and keeping people alive in hostile territory.
The Circuit — Tech specialists and hackers who work to restore communications, power systems, and the networks that connected the old world.
The Frontier — Scouts and survivalists who map the changed landscape and find the resources everyone else needs.
Each guild brings unique abilities to the team, and success requires leveraging everyone’s strengths.
STEM in the Ruins
Every challenge in Sector 47 incorporates STEM skills in practical, high-stakes ways:
Science: Analyzing environmental samples to determine safe zones. Testing water and soil. Understanding contamination patterns to plan safe routes through the ruins.
Technology: Restoring communication equipment, decoding fragmented data from before the Collapse, operating salvaged tech that requires real technical understanding.
Engineering: Building shelters and defenses with scavenged materials. Repairing critical infrastructure. Solving structural puzzles to access sealed areas.
Math: Resource calculation and rationing across the guild. Distance and time problems for route planning through dangerous territory. Probability assessment for risk decisions.
Mission Types
Salvage Runs: Teams venture into unstable zones to recover critical supplies. Requires math skills for load calculations, strategic prioritization, and time management before conditions deteriorate.
Lab Analysis: Scientific challenges where teams examine samples, form hypotheses, and test solutions to understand what caused the Collapse—and what threats still linger.
Engineering Challenges: Build-and-test scenarios where teams construct solutions using only what they can find. Failed prototypes teach as much as successful ones.
Guild Council: Resource allocation decisions, ethical dilemmas, and inter-guild negotiations with no perfect answers. Develops critical thinking and leadership.
Coordination Ops: Multi-part missions requiring different team members to complete separate objectives simultaneously. Communication and trust are everything.
What Makes Sector 47 Special
A World That Feels Real: The post-Collapse setting isn’t just flavor—it’s a richly built world with history, factions, and consequences. Participants feel like they’re part of something bigger.
High Stakes, Safe Environment: The scenario creates urgency and emotional investment without real danger. Stress inoculation in a controlled, supportive setting.
Collaborative, Not Competitive: Guilds work together against the scenario, not against each other. Everyone rebuilds together or not at all.
Role Specialization: Different guilds suit different strengths. The analytical thinker, the creative builder, the natural leader—everyone has a place to contribute.
Consequences Matter: Decisions have outcomes. Failed missions create complications. Successful operations open new possibilities. Participants experience meaningful cause-and-effect.
Intensity Levels
Sector 47 is designed for ages 11 and up. The post-apocalyptic theme is handled as adventure, not horror—think survival strategy, not jump scares. We adjust intensity based on your group:
Standard Mode: Moderate tension, clear objectives, focus on STEM challenges with the Collapse as a compelling backdrop.
Intense Mode: Higher pressure, harder choices, more immersive threat environment. For teens who thrive under challenge.
Discovery Mode: Emphasis on exploration and problem-solving over survival pressure. Great for groups newer to immersive experiences.
Perfect For
Sector 47 is ideal for:
- STEM enrichment programs seeking engaging, immersive formats
- Teen library programs and events
- School science programs looking for hands-on applications
- Youth group team-building events
- Birthday parties for survival genre fans
- Any group ready to rebuild the world
The Collapse Already Happened. What Happens Next Is Up to You.
The guilds are assembling. Resources are scarce. The old world isn’t coming back—but something new can rise in its place. Your team’s ability to think clearly, work together, and solve the challenges ahead will determine what kind of future Sector 47 becomes.
