Today I’m going to talk about non-negotiables in our lives. What do I mean by “non negotiables” I mean that there are certain things that we simply cannot do without. I can’t wait to tell you mine!

2020 was a crazy year for all of us, it really made me rethink what I really need in my life and what brings me the most joy. I paired back lots of things. As a mom, wife and entrepreneur, I wear many hats. Prior to 2019, Mastermind had already been down a few bumpy roads.

We had started as an organization that helped kids get moving and making friends through play. That led to a family centered organization with a game lounge and a NERF arena. When the mall closed in 2018 where we were renting space, we had to pivot to focus on more on-site events and activities, like library programs and on-site birthday parties. Heading into 2019 we were working on contracts for training in our therapeutic games programs and mystery dinners.

Who knew that we were going to have to go through another major pivot just a few months later!

My Non Negotiables

Here are my top 3 non negotiables.

  1. Fresh air
  2. Great friends
  3. Play

I’m going to go a little deeper into the reason why these are my top 3, but first I want to ask you a question – what are yours? Drop your non negotiables in the comments, because I want to learn more about you and what you really want in your life.

Fresh Air

Now, I’m not an outdoorsy person. I do like to be outside – I’m not a total hermit – I love the sunshine and I love the beach – but I’m not athletic. I’m actually really clumsy.  Maybe it was because we COULDN’T really get outside for a while, but I learned that I really need the fresh air and sunshine. Whether it’s a hike with my camera or a walk on the beach with my dogs – I crave the fresh air.

Great Friends

Some of you might be surprised to know that I am an introvert. I really enjoy people, and I have learned some leadership skills. But this does not come naturally to me, I do not like to be in charge and if someone else wants to take the lead, I am perfectly comfortable taking a back seat. But my great friends are non negotiables. I have found that my very best friends are really independent and they don’t mind not being in touch every day. But having a way to stay connected has been really important to me, and finding time to reach out to my besties is something I can’t do without.

Play

This one will probably not surprise you too much, but as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to forget to play and have fun. I will give you an example. When the pandemic started, I found myself taking solace building an island in Animal Crossing for hours on end and inviting my friends over to it to play games. This was a lifesaver for me, and play continues to be something that I try to make time for regularly.

Can you relate?

So I wonder if you can relate to any of that? We all have some things that we cannot live without and everyone is a little different because we’re all unique and have our own unique needs and interests.

It’s for that reason that Mastermind Adventures is starting to train Adventure Specialists like Kayleigh.

That sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

It is the job of the Adventure Specialist to learn about you and what you are looking for so that they can make the right recommendations that are tailored to your needs.

Adventure Specialists will be used for parents looking to find educational programs for their kids and to help adults find their perfect tabletop role playing game. We feel that taking the time to get to know you and your specific needs can help us create better programs and help to save you time and money.

Thank You!

We are here for you because you have always wanted to play.
